The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger About Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
